Why do I have to pay a co-pay at each visit?

Co-pays are a fee that many insurance companies require an insured person to pay for certain medical services (such as a physician’s office visit).  Because NWMG is contracted with your insurance company we are required to collect a co-pay each time you are seen.  For our patient’s convenience, NWMG does accept all major credit cards as well as checks and cash.

What insurance does NWMG accept?

NWMG accepts a variety of insurances.  To ensure our providers take your insurance it is best that you can call your insurance company or login to your insurance website to see what providers are in your network.

As of May 1st, 2014, NWMG is accepting BLUE CROSS Covered California Plans.  If you are new to NWMG contact our New Patient Coordinator at 277-6524 to find out which providers are accepting new patients.

What does my insurance cover?

Insurance coverage varies from plan to plan.  Refer to your plan documents, or contact your insurance plan for coverage specific to your group.

Does NWMG accept Medi-Cal?

Presently, NWMG is not accepting new Medi-Cal patients.  For more information, call our new patient coordinator at 277.6524.

Does NWMG take walk-in patients without an appointment?

Call our New Patient Coordinator at 277.6524 she will walk you through choosing which of our providers is the best fit for you.

What if I am late or, cannot make it to my scheduled appointment?

If you cannot make your scheduled appointment, notify our office at least 24 hours in advance.  If you are running late, you may have to reschedule the appointment for a later time.

What happens if I miss my appointment?

Call the office and inform the staff as soon as possible. Missing an appointment wastes time that could be used to assist another patient. If you frequently miss appointments, we may ask you to seek care elsewhere.

What should I bring to each visit?

We ask that your bring your current insurance card, picture ID, and any forms that you may need completed.  It is also advised that you bring a list of all medications you are taking to give to the physician at each visit.

What do I do if I do not have my insurance card?

If you haven’t received your insurance card we ask that you notify your plan administrator or insurance company directly and have them provide you with the subscriber number, group number, effective date of coverage, co-pay amount and address where claims are to be sent.  This information will help us expedite the check-in process, as well as provide our billing department the necessary information needed to bill your insurance appropriately.  Please note, without an insurance card you will be asked to sign a guarantor form agreeing to pay for all medical services rendered.

Why do you ask for a picture ID?

For security reasons and for your protection from identity theft, we require picture ID to verify that you are who you say you are.

Why use Urgent Care?

When getting well can’t wait, use the NWMG Urgent Care.  Our urgent care provides services on a walk-in basis.
Emergency rooms are not the fastest or most cost-effective choice when you need immediate health care, and often it can take days to get in to see a primary care physician.  You could wait hours in the ER for less serious health concerns, and that’s too much time and money lost. NWMG Urgent Care is the ideal alternative for your health care needs. We offer extended hour access for acute illness and injury care that is either beyond the scope or availability of the typical primary care practice, (no x-ray on site).  NWMG Urgent Care offers same-day care so you can get back to feeling better sooner.

What types of physicals are done in Urgent Care?

NWMG Urgent Care does Sports Physicals and DOT Physicals.  Sports physicals are available during regular UC hours.  DOT physicals, are available M-W, 9a-6p and Th 11a-8p.  Pediatric Sports Physicals can be done by scheduling an appointment with our Pediatric department at 271-6302.  Pediatric Sports Physicals are scheduled after 4pm M-F and 9a-11a Saturday morning.  Pediatric Sports Physicals can also be done on a walk-in basis in our UC during regular UC hours.

I don’t understand my bill; whom should I call?

You can call our billing office for assistance, 559.271.6310.  Our billing office will only speak with the patient directly.  Unless, an authorization to disclose information is completed naming whom the patient gives NWMG permission to speak with.

DOT PHYSICALS – Does NWMG have a Certified Medical Examiner that can do DOT Physicials?

Yes!  We have a DOT certified medical examiner in our Urgent Care.  For your convenience, DOT Physicals are available Monday-Wednesday, 9a-6p and Thursday, 11a-8p.
